A fiction reader at pre-primer level containing nine simple stories. A "warm up" list of words and phrases precedes each story. Comprehension questions follow. New words are repeated throughout the story. Non-phonetic words are kept to a minimum, listed separately as Sight Words, and underlined in the text (to remind the student and teacher that the word cannot be "sounded out" and must be memorized.)

The Dog Just Sat
A complete story at primer level containing 60 pages and approximately 2400 story words, plus word lists and questions. It reinforces the patterns introduced in On Time, adds a few consonant blends and digraphs and introduces letter patterns ay, ar, oo (look), or, ee, old and all. Later chapters introduce the endings s, ed, ing, and less. A small number of more challenging words are also included.
